The Color Science Library is a commercial
software package developed by CGSD Corporation. It helps specialists solve
problems of color measurement, specification, and matching. Color scientists
and graphics professionals incorporate the C-language subroutines into their
own programs to ensure accurate transformations among twenty color spaces,
including transformations requiring large look-up tables. The library
includes routines for associating over 6000 English-language color names
with color coordinate values. Using the routines, one can learn that Munsell
6R 3/2 is grayish reddish brown or that yellow ochre is
Universal Color Language color No. 72.
The library is available for Sun, Silicon Graphics, PC, and Macintosh platforms. It includes the source code for a stand-alone query program that thoroughly exercises the capabilities of the library routines.
